This past weekend I took the first real step toward something I’ve been thinking about for a while, becoming a life coach. From Friday all the way to Sunday I attended the Co-Active Fundamentals course and, honestly, I didn’t know what to expect.

A Weekend of Connection and Growth
What I ended up finding was more than just an ordinary class, it turned into a weekend of connections, learning and self-discovery moments. It was both humbling and inspiring.
We were a group of people from all over the world, each bringing their own stories and reasons for being there. Some were already in the coaching world, while others, like me, were just starting to explore this new path. The instructors were not only knowledgeable but genuinely inspiring. They didn’t just talk at us, they involved us, challenged us, and guided us through what life coaching really is.
Experiencing Coaching Firsthand
One big takeaway for me was getting to experience coaching firsthand. I mean really doing it. We didn’t just sit around and take notes. Instead we coached each other, practicing how to ask meaningful questions, holding space for one another, and listening. Not just to come up with a quick response, but to actually hear what was being said. It got raw sometimes. Even a bit uncomfortable if I’m honest. But that’s exactly where the real growth happened. It felt natural in a way, challenging for sure and surprisingly moving too.
A Shift in Perspective
What I learned isn’t just a set of skills, it’s more like a whole new way of being. Life coaching is not about solving someone’s problems, it’s about believing they’re already whole, even when they can’t see it for themselves. It’s Curiosity over certainty. Listening over telling someone what to do. Empowering people instead of directing them. It’s about helping people uncover their own answers, their own truths, their own next steps. And that, to me, feels powerful.
I left the weekend feeling energized and certain that this is the path I want to take. It’s still just the beginning of the journey, but I’m excited to keep learning and to keep practicing, and my goal is to take what I’m learning and create a space where people feel supported in making real, lasting changes in their lives.
An Invitation to Connect
If you have asked yourself about what life coaching really is, I can tell you this: It’s more than just a profession, it’s a way of connecting with people on a real level, being fully present in those moments, and making an actual impact that matters.
